The KAHM Unity Women’s College Library, Shihab Thangal Library and Information Centre, is a dynamic academic hub that serves students, faculty, and researchers. Located in a newly expanded, two-story building spanning 9,000 square feet, the library offers a vast collection of over 25,000 books, reference materials, a textbook bank, and subscriptions to a wide variety of national and international journals, magazines, periodicals, and newspapers. The web-based Online Public Access Catalogue (Web OPAC), developed using Koha integrated management software, ensures easy access to print material data for all users. This extensive collection of print resources is complemented by digital and e-resources, which are archived and accessible through DSpace and other advanced networked platforms.
The library’s facilities include dedicated sections for undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members, along with key resources like a digital resource centre, reference section, career corner, and a spacious reading area. Fully automated with 'Koha' Integrated Library Management Software, the library supports remote access to e-resources such as N-LIST and DELNET, enhancing research and academic activities. The facility is IT-enabled, equipped with Wi-Fi, and secured with CCTV surveillance to ensure a safe environment for its users.
In addition to its vast collection, the library offers valuable services, including book reservations, photocopying, and remote access to e-resources. The library actively promotes reading and learning by hosting seminars, workshops, and competitions aimed at fostering students' reading habits. Managed by a dedicated advisory council, the library remains a central component of the college’s academic life and playing a vital role in supporting education and research.

1. Library membership is open to all students and staff of the college.
2. Students and staff must apply for membership in the prescribed form.
3. Members should observe strict silence and discipline inside the Library.
4. Visitors must log their entry and exit in the register and scan their ID cards.
5. Students must produce their ID cards to enter the library and borrow books.
6. Personal belongings, except paper and pen, must be left at the property counter.
7. Report lost ID cards to the Librarian immediately in writing; A fine of ₹70 will be charged for each loss.
8. Books, journals and all other library materials should be handled with care.
9. Damaging or stealing library property will result in disciplinary action.
10. Books taken from shelves for reference should be left on the reading table.
11. Seek assistance from library staff in using the library and locating your library resources.
12. Rule violations or misconduct may result in membership cancellation and loss of privileges.
13. Library borrowing privileges are granted only to registered students, research scholars, faculty, and staff.
14. The loan period is 14 days for students and 30 days for faculty and staff. Renewals for one term are allowed if no one else has reserved the item.
15. A fine of ₹1 per day is charged if books are not returned or renewed by the due date.
16. Reference books, journals, periodicals, newspapers cannot be borrowed.
17. Books can only be issued to the borrowers with a valid Library ID Card.
18. Absence from the college is not a valid excuse for late returns.
19. Lost books must be replaced with the same edition or compensated at four times the cost-plus overdue charges.
20. Borrowers should inspect books for damage and report it; they will be responsible for any new damage found upon return.
21. The Librarian reserves the right to recall any issued book at any time.
22. Faculty and staff on leave over a month must return all borrowed books before leaving.
23. All borrowed materials must be returned by the last working day of the academic year or the date set by the Librarian.
24. ‘No Due Certificates’ for students and staff will only be issued once all library dues have been settled.
